Gaurav lost his grandmother in 2017. No voice note. No video. No photo. Just memory. He lost his sight at 14. But that earlier loss — of her — never left him. Family Shell is the answer to both.

Gaurav loved his grandmother more than words could hold. He'd sit by her side, listening to her stories — stories of how things used to be, of ancestors long gone, of recipes that no one else remembered. When she passed away in January 2017, Gaurav wanted to share her with the world.
But there was nothing. No voice note. No video. Not even a photograph he could point to and say, "That's her." The photos were lost somewhere in the chaos of time.
That pain never left him. It became the seed of Family Shell.
Family Shell exists so no one else has to say "I have no record of them." One place to gather every voice, every photo, every story — and keep them safe. Forever.

How We Got Here
The world went dark
At just 14 years old, Gaurav lost his sight to glaucoma during a computer training program. Two surgeries later — no sight. But his resolve only grew brighter.
Rebuilding a life
While studying Political Science at Delhi University, Gaurav taught himself IT — coding, systems, everything. He was building himself back up, one skill at a time.
Lost forever
Gaurav's grandmother passed away. She was his world. When he wanted to share her with others — there was nothing. No voice note. No photo. No video. Just his memory of her. Nothing to hold onto.
The void becomes a mission
That emptiness never left. Gaurav began researching genealogy, family systems, and how to preserve legacy digitally. He found the same problem everywhere: families losing their stories to time, platform shutdowns, and simple neglect.
Family Shell is born
Combining his technical skills, personal loss, and deep understanding of family heritage, Gaurav built Family Shell — one secure place for every family's voice, photos, and stories. Safe. Forever.

Family Shell grows every day — with Saurabh spreading the word and Sachin engineering the future. Driven by one belief: no family should ever feel that silence.

After two unsuccessful surgeries, he rebuilt his life through perseverance — studying political science at Delhi University while simultaneously pursuing IT education. Five years across varied technical domains, a deep researcher of genealogy and family systems, he founded Family Shell to give every family a place to preserve their legacy.
